Welcome to Edmonton John Howard Society | Supportive Housing in Edmonton

Who we are
We believe in enabling people to lead a fulfilling life and be active contributors to their community.

Edmonton John Howard Society is more than a service provider. To our clients, we are the family many of them never had. People come to us when the world doesn’t seem to welcome them or when the path forward is hidden by fear, self-doubt and closed doors. Our door is always open. Just like a family, we provide a home to some and safe shelter to all. We listen, we care, we reach out and we support. We celebrate with our clients when they succeed and we welcome them back when they stumble.

Who we serve

At Edmonton John Howard Society, we serve young people without support systems, people impacted by family violence, and men and women at risk or involved with the justice system. All find a warm welcome and the help they need to discover hope in their lives. We also work to build understanding about the causes and consequences of crime and to prevent crime in our communities through public education.

What we offer

At Edmonton John Howard Society, we offer hope and opportunities through a variety of practical services and innovative programs:

  • Housing and help finding housing
  • Help finding employment
  • Help finding other community services
  • Supportive services
  • Public Legal Education programs for schools and community groups
  • Financial Literacy Courses at the New Edmonton Remand Centre
  • Housing for youth experiencing homelessness
  • Services for individuals involved in domestic violence
How we work

We are here to help. Call us, email us or drop by our office to get started. Our door is open, Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 4:30 (closed from noon – 1:00 p.m. daily), and email and phone messages are returned as soon as possible. Our friendly staff and volunteers are waiting to welcome you.

Homeward Trust Walk/Run - June 12th

It takes teamwork to end youth homelessness in our community.

That's why Homeward Trust is partnering with iHuman, YESS, John Howard Society & E4C for the 4th annual Homeward Walk/Run on Sunday, June 12.

This year's Walk/Run starts at Picnic Site #1 in Whitemud Park and will take you on either a 5 km walk/run or a 10 km run though our city's beautiful trail system. Kids will have their own 1 km Fun Run, free of charge.

With the terrible fires in Fort McMurray, the past few weeks have seen a tremendous outpouring of support for our neighbours in need. While the Homeward Walk/Run was established to be a fundraiser, the Fort McMurray disaster has clearly—and rightfully—shifted fundraising priorities in our community. We are proceeding with the event knowing our supporters may not be able to donate, however will want to join us in raising and maintaining awareness around the issue of youth homelessness. We hope to see you there!

To register and for more information, please go to www.homewardwalkrun.ca.

Join the team to support the efforts of iHuman, YESS, John Howard Society & E4C in their initiatives to end youth homelessness in Edmonton.
