Book a Presentation

We find that many teachers enjoy and often prefer guests coming in to their classrooms to present and discuss topical information with their students. Our presenters visit elementary, junior high and high school classrooms throughout the school year and offer a variety of presentations. Our program is designed to be age appropriate, student-centered and relevant to the student’s school and home experiences. Presentations are delivered by a team of highly qualified Criminal Justice Educators whose backgrounds include youth work, corrections and instructional development. The presentations are free of charge; however, we will gratefully accept an honorarium. If your school is located in Edmonton or the surrounding area (~150 km) and you wish to arrange for one of our presenters to come and visit your classroom, please give us a call or send us an email.

    • understand the diversion options
    • describe the youth justice court

Junior High and Senior High Education Programs

Youth Criminal Justice Act:
Presentations include a discussion with PowerPoint, student materials and video.

The focus is on the following:

  • Basic Principles of the Youth Criminal Justice Act
  • Legal Rights
  • Diversion
  • Sentences
  • Youth Records

Teachers receive a support package to facilitate follow-up discussion.

In addition to having one of our presenters visit or using the learning resources here, many educators also invite and welcome other speakers or visit their local police services, lawyers, youth justice committees, judiciary, and other community organizations. Students give different consideration to the material and are more likely to retain the information if it comes from a variety of sources and is presented in a variety of ways. No matter where you live we encourage you to invite a variety of visitors into your classroom to speak on law related topics.
