Key Community Stakeholder Survey

Thank you so much to all of you who participated in our external stakeholder interviews.  This is a major component of our communication planning process.  Your input is extremely important to us.

At the Board retreat (January 27thand 28th, 2012) our Board and leadership team will be reviewing the themes and determining how to address the issues and opportunities raised through the survey.

Marie Wylie Award

Congratulations to staff member, Tony Pearson, who was awarded the Marie Wylie Award for 2011.  The Marie Wylie Award is presented by the John Howard Society of Alberta Board or Directors to acknowledge an Outstanding Employee from John Howard Societies across Alberta.  The award was named to honour a past Board Member who served on the Board of Directors for the John Howard Society of Lethbridge for many years.

Bill C-10

The Omnibus Crime Bill (C-10) passed through the House of Commons and is now before the Senate having passed second reading there.  It is expected that the Senate committee will hear witnesses on Bill C-10 in February 2012.

Catherine Latimer, Executive Director of the John Howard Society of Canada, has asked to make a presentation on this matter at the Senate hearings.
