Public Legal Education Resources for Teachers

Issues related to the law span all subject areas covered in classrooms and pervade all areas of student life. The social implications of students' decisions and actions are often intimately linked to the legal implications. Information and resources are needed, focused on both the social and legal aspects of these issues, in order to help create a better understanding of their interrelationship.

While our Public Legal Education staff currently deliver a great number of presentations in Edmonton and the surrounding area, they are not able to visit many rural communities. To meet the needs of teachers in these communities, Edmonton John Howard Society created a collection of online resources. These materials, intended for use by classroom teachers to support and extend their Social Studies, Health, C.A.L.M., and Legal Studies instruction, are now being maintained and updated by the John Howard Society of Alberta. These materials can be accessed at the link below.
