Independence Apartments (CBRF) Halfway House Services

Independence Apartments CBRF, a program of Edmonton John Howard Society, primary focus is to assist the client in making a successful transition to a responsible community life. Halfway House Services provides community supervision of clients.

Qualifications include:

  • Ability to understand the dynamics of offenders’ behavior and assess their needs and risks.
  • The skills to counsel offenders, form effective relationships, and gain trust.
  • The skills to understand the use of authority in supervision and to intervene effectively in crisis situations.
  • The ability to assist offenders in identifying and solving the practical problems involved in their successful reintegration into the community.
  • Skills in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to understand cultural differences.
  • The ability to maintain a high level of professionalism in all dealings with clients.
  • Work well as an independent and in a team environment.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate.
